Buhari Orders Probe Of 295 Smuggled Petroleum Tankers Illegally Released

President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered the probe of the unauthorised release of 295 tanker smugglers by security officials at the land borders who were arrested for smuggling of petroleum into the country.

Upon the instructions given by the president in August 2019, the Nigerian land borders should be closed to curtail the importation of food items that can be locally produced, and also to checkmate the smuggling of illegal fire arms into the country and that petroleum products should not be supplied to fuel stations within 20 kilometers of the borders.

About 295 petroleum tanker smugglers have been arrested and illegally released by the security officials at the land borders and the president has however ordered the probe of the release of the smugglers.
