Former Manchester United and Tottenham striker Dimitar Berbatov has advised Juventus striker Cristiano Ronaldo to listen to his body when he wants to withdraw or retire from football.
The Bulgarian thinks Ronaldo, who turned 35 earlier this week, can play for up to 40 years.
Berbatov, a former teammate with the Portuguese captain during their time at Man United, was quoted by Nig24news as saying: “Cristiano Ronaldo, my former teammate, turned 35 earlier this week and is still on fire.
“The Portuguese star has more than 30 goals for Juventus in all competitions this quarter.
“Ronaldo is amazing and he said he wanted to play this game until when he was 40 and I think he can do it.
“Ryan Giggs did it and it is a pleasure to see Zlatan Ibrahimovic, 35, also very well.
“Recently, I thought to myself if I had retired from football too early.
“But Ronaldo has to listen to his body in order to know when to retire from football.”
