Nigerian gospel singer, Timi Dakolo has exhort Christians to celebrate this year’s Easter in the comfort of their homes due to the coronavirus pandemic marauding the countries across the planet earth.
Easter is a global event which commemorates the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Christians in Nigeria would join others across the the world to celebrate the annual event on Sunday.
In previous years, such ceremony is often celeberated in churches but with the existence of the dreadful COVID-19 and several directives disallowing large social and religious gatherings, many have called on Christians to observe the event at their homes.
Joining the fray, the talented gospel singer urged Christians abolish the mindset that they can only worship God inside church buildings.
Dakolo added that it is like putting God to test should they step out of their homes to commemorate this year’s edition of the annual event in churches, despite lockdown order that is aimed at fighting the spread of the killer virus.
“Do not put the Lord your God to test, stay home on Easter Sunday. God don’t dwell in buildings but in the hidden depth of our heart. It’s a relationship not a conference,” he wrote on Instagram.
Dakolo’s comment comes after Olubankole Wellington, an entertainer cum politician better known as Banky W, had taken a swipe at some Nigerian governors for taking a step back by relaxing lockdown in their states due to Easter celebrations.
