Chelsea Football Club has mourned the death of former manager and player Tommy Docherty who died at the age of 92
Docherty who was known at his prime as The Doc, was a Scottish football player and manager. He played for several clubs, most notably Preston North End, and represented Scotland 25 times between 1951 and 1959.
Docherty led Chelsea to the FA and the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup semi-finals
The club statement read:”Everybody at Chelsea Football Club is very saddened to learn of the death of our former player and manager Tommy Docherty.”
“Tommy was a legend of our game and our thoughts are with his family and close friends at this time. 💙 ”
