Barcelona left-back Jordi Alba has gone wild against club sports director Eric Abidal after the team in the Copa del Rey were 1-0 defeated at Athletic Bilbao on Thursday .
The quarterfinal loss came within a week when captain Lionel Messi clashed with Abidal in an interview he gave.
Recalled that Abidal had suggested that the players were to blame for Ernesto Valverde’s sack.
Quique Setien, who replaced Valverde at Camp Nou, lost twice in six games to the head of the LaLiga champions.
Alba told reporters that “this club receives enough – thrown on it from the outside, so we should not throw ourselves – on ourselves.
“Abidal was a player, he is loved by the fans and that is why he should know what it looks like in the locker room and how the players feel,” Alba told reporters.
He also insisted that their exit from Copa del Rey had nothing to do with the events of last week.
Barça defender Gerard Pique also said the team must come out of the club’s internal crisis.
“Everyone knows what they did well and what they didn’t do and now we have to keep working. We have to stop biting our noses to upset our face, because that won’t help us.
“We have built this club on victories and we have to start again. We are working in this direction, we are playing better, we are adapting to the coach’s ideas and the locker room is more united than ever, ”said Pique.
