The inauguration of commission of inquiry to examine the legality & fairness of the sale of public assets between 1999 & 2019 as well as the panel of inquiry to investigate allegations that his administration was diverting N300m of Local govt funds by the Kwara State Governor has been commended by the State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, describing the move as laudable initiatives to clear the state of the rot that had stagnated its development.
In a statement issued by the party shortly after the inauguration of the two panels of inquiry on Tuesday 11th August, the party commended the governor for being transparent by not only inviting the foremost anti graft agency, EFCC, to investigate the allegation of diversion of local government funds in his government but also inaugurating a panel of Inquiry on such allegations.
“We are therefore not unmindful of the opposition’s antics to discredit this laudable gesture of the government especially as it affects the recovery of our illegally appropriated assets plundered during their horrendous reign”
“Rather, the opposition & their leaders should see this panel on recovery of assets as a credible platform to defend themselves of any false allegations,if any,&clear their names, instead of sponsoring hirelings in media footlooseness.”
“In the face of unparalleled transparency exhibited by this govt through the involvement CSOs in social audit to monitor projects, the opposition through pedestrian comments by their media hirelings continue to mischievously harp on the non domestication of the FOI bill.”
“For the record, the last failed govt only deemed it fit to pass the bill at the twilight of their tenure. It is commonsensical to reappraise such bill.”
“While we urge the public to disregard any false story peddled by these mischievous elements, whose sponsors have always resorted to obsolete tactics of employing lies and blackmail to hunt down political opponents, their intention is to whittle down the popularity of Governor Abdulrazaq and his political base which God has built for him.
They must realize by now that they have ommitted God in their machinations,” the statement said.
The party charged the governor to continue to confront the Goliath of underdevelopment, break the yoke of bondage and take away the reproach of the state.
