The Nigerian Police Force, Ekiti State Command, on Tuesday night, said the operation teams had not killed some of the students of the Federal University Oye Ekiti State.
DSP Police Chief Caleb Ikechukwu said students from the Federal University Oye / Ikole Campus led by the Student Government have simultaneously protested against the overall demolition in both campuses.
The statement said that they stormed the university’s perimeter wall and blocked the federal roads of Oye-Ikole-Lokoja, causing disturbance to peace and traffic.
“Students protesting also warmed up the office of the Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC) in Oye Ekiti,” he said.
“To prevent further damage to the office complex, it was necessary for the police to intervene quickly. Police officers at the scene reconciled with the protesting student, lifted the block, and dispersed the protester peacefully.’
“At the same time, the number of protesting students turned to the governor’s spouse Erelu Bisi Fayemi who is in a power program.’
“The protesting students suddenly became nervous, hostile and took the laws into their hands and vandalized their motorcycle of excellence.’
“The protesting students did not stop there, but also attacked the police at the scene to protect the law and order and damaged the police vehicle at the scene.’
“An investigation is ongoing to bring the perpetrators to justice. Additional information will be provided on time ”.
