In the world’s fist Covid-19 Vaccine registration conference, the Chief Executive Officer of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), Kirill Dmitriev had revealed that, they are willing to move up production of the vaccine to about 500 million doses a year in partnership with foreign partners.
“Together with our foreign partners, we are ready to produce more than 500 million doses of the vaccine per year” he said.
During the conference, he recorded that about 20 nations from the Latin America, the Middle East, and Asia have requested for doses of the vaccine,he revealed that about a billion doses have been requested by those nations.
Though the vaccine would still be subjected to further trials,the Covid-19 Vaccine became the first and a major breakthrough after the
Russian president, Vladimir Putin registered the vaccine earlier this week, he called it the “Sputnik V” and would be made available to the general public in six months time.
The CEO RDIF also noted that all locally used doses would be produced locally while those to be used abroad will be produced abroad, however, there are also plans that the RDIF would support states that cannot buy or produce the vaccine through a Humanitarian program.
When talking about how the vaccine would be made available in poor places worldwide, he said:
“people around the world should have equal access to a vaccine, regardless of their financial situation.”
